The Uesugi Records is a different set of documents from the Uesugi Family Documents, which is one of Japan’s national treasures. The Uesugi family donated the records to Yonezawa city in 1954, and it consists mostly of historical materials related to Yonezawa domain politics.
The collection consists of more than 10,000 documents, including archives produced by Yonezawa domain’s office of records along with materials compiled from feudal Japan and documents from the Rinsen library (book collection by Isahaya Ken).
Over the years, the Uesugi Records have been greatly valued as a historical asset and utilized in research. However, a detailed inventory of its contents has yet to be created or publicized, and therein rose the need for a thorough understanding of the records’ contents. Thus, a 5-year project funded by the Agency of Cultural Affairs was launched in 2021 to survey Yonezawa’s local cultural properties.
This exhibit will showcase the survey results so far, including the way funerals and punishments are carried out in the domain, compilations of the Uesugi family’s history and painted depictions of Yonezawa domain.

요네자와시 우에스기 박물관 컬렉션전 「우에스기 문서를 펴다」
「우에스기 문서」는 국보「우에스기 가문 문서」와는 별도로、쇼와29년（1954）에 우에스기 가문에서 요네자와시에 기증된 사료 그룹에서、요네자와 번의 번정 사료가 대부분을 차지하고 있습니다。
요네자와 번 기록소에서 작성된 기록류 외에、중세 사료 나 린센 문서（이사하야 켄 소장본）에서 편입된 사료가 포함되어 있고、그 수는 약 １만점에 달합니다。

그래서、요네자와시에서、레이와３년도부터 문화청의 「지역 활성화를 위해 특색있는 문화재 조사・활용 사업」을 활용하고、5개년 계획에 조사 사업을 하고 있습니다。
본 전시회에서는、그동안 조사 성과에서、요네자와 번의 장례 의식이나 형벌의 실태、우에스기 가문의 역사 편찬、요네자와 번내를 그린 그림 등을 다루고、「우에스기 문서」에서 풀어내는 요네자와 번의 여러가지 모습을 소개합니다。

「上杉文书」和国宝「上杉家文书」不一样，在1954年从上杉家赠给米泽市的历史文件内，记录了大量关于米泽潘主的潘政历史材料。
由米泽潘记录所制作的记录资料以外，还包含中世纪的历史材料，以及林泉文库（伊左早谦所藏本），等许多重要历史记录材料，大约有1万件左右。
关于「上杉文书」的历史资料价值，在很久以前就得到了很高的评价。对研究等也起了很大的作用。但是目前并没有公开详细的目录，所以对于它的全部内容还需要进一步的研究。
所以米泽市利用2022年度的文化厅的「为了地区建设的特色文化财产的调查，研究事业」计划使用5年时间展开调查。
这次的展览，将通过到目前的调查结果，以及米泽潘的葬礼仪式，刑罚的实际情况等，编辑上杉家的历史篇章，并且将为大家介绍关于上杉家的历史书籍，米泽潘内的地图等，将为大家展现从「上杉文书」内的各种细节。
