This year’s Rice Field Art is a depiction of famous people with strong ties to Yonezawa!
This year will be Uesugi Kagekatsu and Sanada Yukimura!

This year marks the 11th annual return of the acclaimed Paddy Art.
Why not invite your family and friends to stay at Onogawa Onsen and join the fun of rice farming?
We’re looking for many people to join in!
 

Date: Sunday 29th of May 2016 (cancellations can occur in instances of heavy rain)

Meeting place: Misawa Community Center

Field location: City-based ‘Yanasawachi’ Rice Field Art Suiden Paddy

Fee: Adults (High-school and up) 2,000 yen

Children (Middle school and under) 1,500 yen

※The Participation Fee also includes insurance fees

Participant limit: 200 (first come first serve)

 

Special for participants:

Lunch included (Onigiri and Tonjiru, tea etc.)

2kg of Tsuyahime for free!

 (for those who participate in rice reaping : 5kg)

The website ‘ZEKKEI’ Japan which chooses the most beautiful scenes from throughout Japan has given the ‘Spring Zekkei Award’ to Yonezawa’s very own Matsugasaki Park.
The pictures spot is Uesugi Jinja-Shrine’s southern side showing ‘Cherry Blossoms at Hishimon reflecting off the water’.

Cherry Blossom viewing season is planned to start from the 18th of April and illuminations will start from the 15th.

At the Yonezawa station tourist help desk there are free long winter boots to rent.

 

Anyone is free to rent so come by if you want to trek through Yonezawa’s snow in style!

 

Rental Period
December 5th 2015 until March 31st
9:00 ~ 17:00

In regards to the Uesugi Snow Festival:

The Festival, as of now, will still go ahead as planned on the 13th and 14th of February!

You may have worries about the lack of snow but we’ve been working hard to make sure the Festival will be fun for all!
