The entrance of the Denkoku Mori will be displaying a memorial to the “Ruins of Tateyama Castle” until Tuesday September the 27th.

These ruins were only discovered in March of this year – please come have a look!

Nishi Azuma Sky Valley is a 20 km mountain road spanning from Shirabu Onsen to Urabandai. From Shirabu Onsen to Urabandai it takes roughly 40 minutes and is a wonderful driving course to witness Yonezawa’s beautiful scenery.

With this year’s unseasonably warm winter behind us and spring well underway there may be some who wish to start mountain climbing. If you’re planning on mountain climbing now or in golden week please keep in mind that due to changes in air pressure and unpredictable weather this period can be especially prevalent for accidents and injuries. To avoid accidents take special care when planning your routes and be especially careful while climbing.

Uesugi Museum 15 Year Anniversary Special Display

  •  Uesugi Museum 15 Year Anniversary Special Display

The Special Display ‘Uesugi Kagekatsu; The Counselor’ is now on display.

During the Sengoku Period where rival lords fought out for dominance until the period of unity across the whole of Japan there was one very special man present. Kagekatsu.

This display focuses on introducing the role Kagekatsu took administratively which built the foundations of the Uesugi Clan’s position within the Yonezawa Domain.

 

Also ‘A national Treasure – Uesugi Folding Screen Art’ will also be available to see at the same time.

Said to have been given from Oda Nobunaga to Uesugi Kenshin in the year 1574 and then handed down through the generations of the Uesugi Clan. A marvelous picture of the capital depicting the outside and inside of the city, the four seasons and those living within the city.

There are also lectures and workshops available to participate in.

First Display:  Saturday 16th April ~ Sunday 15th May

Second Display: Saturday 21st May ~ Sunday 19th June

During the period of Monday 16th May until Friday 20th the display will change – during this period only the general display will be available to view.

Closed: Wednesday 25th May

 

Prices: (Groups consist of over 20 people)

 General: 620 Yen   (Group 490 Yen)
 High School Student: 400 yen  (Group 320 Yen)
 Elementary/ Junior High School Student: 250 Yen (Group 200 Yen)

The 5th of May is ‘Children’s Day’ – as such, elementary, junior high and high school students can enter exhibits for free. Please enquire at the Information Desk/Window for more information on the day.
