For this year's Uesugi Festival you have the chance to win prizes by adding hashtags to your posts on social media!

In order to participate follow the Yonezawa Tourism Navi (米沢(よねざわ)観光(かんこう)ナビ(なび)) account on either Instagram or Twitter and hashtag your Uesugi Festival posts with the following:

#上杉(うえすぎ)まつり幻想(げんそう)米沢(よねざわ)

(Uesugi Matsuri Gensou no Yonezawa)

Please make sure to put your hashtags in Japanese to be eligible!

The best posts will be selected to win some special Yonezawa Prizes.

You can make as many posts as you want with the above hashtag and if you’re selected we will contact you via Direct Message!

First Prize: (one available) Yonezawa Beef 10,000 Yen gift card

If your account/posts are set to private or do not contain the appropriate hashtag you will not be eligible for this campaign. Also, if you are chosen but aren’t following the Yonezawa Tourism Navi accounts we will be unable to contact you- making your application void.

Posts may be uploaded onto the city website so if your pictures depict someone other than yourself please get their permission before posting.

Posts that contain copyrighted material/characters are not eligible.

As of Monday the Cherry Blossoms at Matsugasaki Park have bloomed. Every night the area around Uesugi Shrine will be lit up for cherry blossom viewing!  Be sure to come see the beautiful Sakura!

Rice Paddy Art, Participants Wanted!

Particpants are wanted to plant the colourful rice paddy art in the rice fields near Onagawa Onsen! This year’s art will mark the 450th birthday of Date Masamune!

Date: Sun. 28th May 9:00~13:00

Starting Location: Misawa Community Centre

Rice Planting Location: Yanazawa Rice Paddy Art Field

Max. People: First 200 persons

FeeHigh School Students and above 2,000 Yen
       Junior HS students and below 1,500 Yen

For Partipants:Lunch provided, 2kg present of Tsuyahime Rice after harvest (Those who participate in the harvest event on the 1st October will receive 5kg)  

Please Bring:Sandals, Towel, Change of clothes, Rain gear, Matts/Covers for inside cars.

The Rice planting takes place barefoot in mud so please wear attire that you don’t mind getting dirty.

Original Musical ‘Bontenmaru’

Celebrating the 450th birthday of Date Masamune as well as the anniversary of Tateyama Castle ruins being recognized as a sight of national historical significance. Yonezawa presents the original musical “Bontenmaru” a musical based on the life of Yonezawa born, legendary samurai warrior Date Masamune.

 

 Witness stunning performances highlighting the younger years of Masamune and let wondrous songs transport you back in time.

 A production that’s fun for all the family.

Okitama Hina Doll Tour!

A bus tour where you can visit different spots around Okitama and witness unique “Hina” dolls, you’ll also be able to try a special “Hinazen” menu.

Witness exquisite dolls that date back to the Edo period.  

Why not enjoy the rich history that Okitama has to offer?
