Are you ready to chow down on some meat? Head on over to Denkoku no Mori for this year's Nikunojin on 26th August and brace yourself for an assortment of meat dishes! Beef and pork won't be all that's there, you can also expect chicken, mutton, horse, and game meat! You can also vote for this year's Meat Shogun on site if you so wish!

 

Date: 26th August 2023 (Saturday)

Time: 11:00 am ~ 8:00 pm
* Please take note that stock can sell out before 8:00 pm.

 

Venue: Denkoku no Mori open area

* The event will proceed even if it rains.

 

Fast Pass

Skip the queue with the Fast Pass! Each ticket costs 500 yen and can only be used at one store to purchase up to 2 items on the menu. Please note that this is a separate charge from the food itself.

Fast Passes can be purchased at the Young Entrepreneurs Group booth.

 

Shuttle Bus Information

Shuttle buses will be available to ferry passengers to and fro Yonezawa City Hall and Denkoku no Mori.

 

The first bus leaving City Hall departs at 10:30 am, while the last bus departs at 7:30 pm.

The first bus leaving Denkoku no Mori departs at 11:30 am, while the last bus departs at 8:30 pm.

Yonezawa Treasure Photography Contest 2023

The Yonezawa Treasure Photography Contest is now accepting entries! Show off the best of Yonezawa with your pictures! Old pictures or not, we want to see those lovely shots!

 

Entry Period

 

1st August (Tuesday) – 30th September (Sunday)

 

Entry Requirements


-    You must post the photos on a public Instagram account

-    Follow the official Yonezawa Treasure Photography Contest Instagram account @yonetore

-    Add the following hashtags to your post in order to enter the contest. The total number of hashtags for entry is four.

1.    #山形
2.    #米沢
3.    #米撮2023
4.    Any one of three hashtags here which matches your submission.
      (a)    #スポット部門 (for scenic shots)
      (b)    #食べ物部門 (for food shots)
      (c)    #イベント部門 (for pictures at events)

 

Prizes

 

Each category has the same prizes available.

 

First place (1 winner) – Yonezawa Onsen Voucher, usable at any of the eight onsens in Yonezawa

Second place (2 winners) – Yonezawa Beef Voucher

Third place (3 winners) – An assortment of Yonezawa textile goods

Nasebanaru prize (6 winners selected across all three categories) – An assortment of Yonezawa specialty goods

 

Terms and Conditions

 

1.    There are no limit to submissions. If multiple photos are included in the submission, only the first photograph will be judged in your submission.

2.    Please include the locations of your photos in your post

3.    Photos taken before the contest can also be submitted

4.    Winners are contacted via Instagram direct messages (DMs). Please ensure that your account is able to accept DMs from @yonetore

5.    Photos submitted for the contest may be used in future tourism campaigns for Yonezawa city tourism promotion activities.

6.    Winners will be required at a later date to share their photos with the organizing committee. Copyright will then belong to the Yonezawa Tourism Campaign Promotion Association.

7.    Please understand that photos with watermarks or commentary embedded on the image itself may not be judged.

Drawings of all kinds, such as road illustrations, village maps, and castle town maps, were created using a wide array of methods with various purposes in mind. The Edo shogunate poured their resources towards the creation of kuniezu (Japanese provincial land maps) during their rule. This exhibit will introduce you to the process of creating kuniezu, along with kuniezu created by the Yonezawa domain and other relevant documents. Take a look at Edo Japan through the historic lens of the kuniezu!

 

Exhibition Period

 

First half: 2nd September 2023 (Saturday) ~ 1st October 2023 (Sunday)
Second half: 7th October 2023 (Saturday) ~ 5th November 2023 (Sunday)

 

Please note that the museum will be closed on 27th September and 25th October (Wednesdays).

Entry Fees

 

Regular – 700 yen (560 yen)

High school and University students – 450 yen (360 yen)

Middle and Elementary school students – 300 yen (240 yen)

 

* Fees include entry to the permanent exhibits. Prices in brackets are for groups of 20 and above.
* Entry is free on 3rd November (Friday, national holiday) because of Tohoku Culture Day.

 

Exhibition Lecture – The Edo Period as Seen through Kuniezu (Free entry)

The 10th Nasebanaru Autumn Festival will be held on the weekend of 23rd and 24th September this year!

Look forward to the Yonezawa Don Don Festival for some creative rice bowls to try, traditional unmanned stalls, stage performances and many more! Stop by and check it out!

Yonezawa Grand Fireworks Festival!

The first Yonezawa Grand Fireworks Festival will be held this Saturday, on 29th July! 

Yonezawa’s summer pastime has returned in a brand new fashion! Watch out for highlights of the night, including fireworks launched in sync with the background music, the artistic fireworks personally curated by the pyrotechnicians, and the panoramic fireworks view formed by launching the fireworks from three locations simultaneously!

 

Entry is free, so do stop by and have a blast!

 

Date: 29th July 2023 (Saturday)
